Netherlands geared up for Australia


New Delhi, Jan 16 (IANS): After ousting reigning World No.1 and Olympic champions Germany in the quarter-finals, the Netherlands plan to repeat the result in the semi-final against World Champions Australia in the Hockey World League Final here Friday.

The team were seen practicing at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium after which the Dutch coach and captain spoke to the press.

“Playing against the Australians will be a big challenge. The focus will be to score as many goals as possible. The team will play its usual game with the aim to win the match and reach the final," coach Paul van Ass said Thursday.

Skipper Robert van der Horst said that the match will be between Australia's physical ability against Dutch speed.

“Tomorrow’s match is a big game for both the teams and it is yet to be seen who can manage to keep their cool and come out as the winners. The fans will get to see Australia’s physical ability as against the Dutch speed and skills,” said van der Horst.
