Bangalore: Cop shot by rowdy Munna dies in Hyderabad

Bangalore, Jan 15 (Agencies): Mallikarjun Bande, the police sub-inspector of Station Bazar Police Station in Gulbarga, who had been shot at point-blank range by a rowdy, succumbed to his injuries in Hyderabad last night.

The doctors at the Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital in Hyderabad declared him dead at 12.45 a.m.

He had been injured in a shoot out with Munna, known as ‘Sharp Shooter’ in criminal circles last week. The rowdy was killed in the encounter and two more police officers received bullet injuries.

Bande had been admitted to Basaveshwar Hospital with critical injuries to his head and was later shifted to Hyderabad.

The incident occurred when a crime team raided a house on Dargah Road following a tip-off that Munna was in possession of illegal arms and staying there. He was also suspected to have been involved in a daylight armed robbery at a private finance company in the city recently.

Police returned fire when Munna shot at them. He suffered multiple bullet wounds and is said to have died on the way to hospital.

Based out of Mumbai, he used to visit Gulbarga periodically in connection with his underworld activities.

RIP... Mallikarjun Bande was a true hero, people appreciated his work everywhere. He came from a very poor family, worked hard, and achieved a lot in a very short span. At funeral, everybody was in tears, he made lots of friends due to his good work. He will remain in our heart forever.

    A very Brave Police Man.
Our Salute to his Bravery. May his soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
But unfortunately some political parties are trying to make political capital out of this sad incident and organized Gulbarga bandh and attacked some vehicles. I want to know how much compensation this Political party can pay from their party fund to Mallikarjun's family apart from what govt is going to pay ?

Karnataka police must learn how to carry out encounters from Mumbai police, even after 100 encounters they don't get even a scratch on their body.

Karnataka police have lost a great brave soul.

Now the CM, State ministers, opposition party will send the condolence message to the family and might lay a floral tribute to his dead body.

All politicians are Chor to the core.

Police should pressurize for safety equipments and proper training before venturing into a deadly attack against noted rowdies. Politicians purposely do not want to give this facility to the police because of their own self interest along with the rowdies.

    RIP Inspector Mallikarjun Bande,

R.I.P. Mr. Bande. You laid your life to get rid of scum form the face of this earth.
Before the bloody politicians come and cry over your body and announce compensation, the public should compensate you & your family for your heroic deeds.

Its really a shame non of the state ministers or CM didn't visit him at the hospital.
These ministers visit hospital if any big business man or film actress got admitted in the hospital.
This clearly says there is no value for police in Karnataka
