Auckland, Jan 11 (IANS/CMC): New Zealand defeated the West Indies by 81 runs to take the lead in the two-match Twenty20 International here Saturday.

An unbeaten 85-run sixth-wicket stand between Brendon McCullum and Luke Ronchi paved the way for the victory.
