Huddersfield favourites to sign Wells

London, Jan 8 (IANS/CMC): Bookmakers have made Championship club Huddersfield Town as odds-on favourites to beat off a host of rivals to sign Bermudian striker Nahki Wells in the January transfer window.

Wells, League One Bradford City's leading scorer with 15 goals in all competitions so far this season, is listed as 4/6 to make the move to nearby Huddersfield with Premiership club Aston Villa next in the betting at 7/4, reports CMC.

Championship club Queens Park Rangers, who were linked with 23-year-old Wells last summer, are among the long shots at 14/1.

Another Championship club, Reading, are rumoured to be the latest club interested in signing Wells but are a 20/1 shot to sign him, while reports linking the Bermuda international with Nottingham Forest, fifth in the Championship, appear unfounded.

Huddersfield currently lie 13th in the Championship, while Bradford have slipped to 12th in League One.

Wells has 18 months left on his contract at Valley Parade -- but has refused to entertain talks over an extension and is keen to move to a higher club.

Bradford manager Phil Parkinson said Monday he had heard nothing new on his top scorer, who hopes to recover from a tight hamstring to feature against Bristol City Saturday.

Wells' 26 goals last term helped Bradford win promotion from League Two. He set himself a pre-season target of 30 goals this term.
