Big turnout expected for Yoma-Yangon int'l marathon


Yangon, Jan 3 (IANS): More than 500 overseas runners will participate in the Yoma-Yangon International Marathon to be held here Jan 27.

Organised by the Yangon City Development Committee and First Myanmar Investment Co. Ltd, participants can compete in three different races - the full 42.195 km run, 10km run and 3km run, reports Xinhua.

The start and finish lines are situated one block from Shwe Dagon Pagoda, one of Yangon's most iconic landmarks at People's Park.

The winners of the men's and women's 42-km races will receive $2,500 each while the second placers taking $1,200 and the third placers $800.

For the men's and women's half marathon, $1,500 will be awarded to the winner, with $800 going to the second placers and $400 to the third placers.
