Milan held 2-2 by Roma

Milan, Dec 17 (IANS): AC Milan were held 2-2 by Roma San Siro and missed the chance to close the gap to Juventus at the top of Serie A.

Sulley Muntari struck a 77th-minute equaliser to snatch a point for Massimiliano Allegri's struggling side here Monday, reports Xinhua.

Mattia Destro had opened the scoring for the visitors at the 13th minute, but Cristian Zapata levelled at the 29th minute.

Kevin Strootman looked to have sealed the points for Roma with a penalty at the 52nd minute, only for Muntari's late strike to earn the hosts a share of the spoils.

Roma head coach Rudi Garcia was disappointed with his side who wasted chances in the draw.

"In terms of football I have to be disappointed, as when we are in front twice we' ve got to avoid certain mistakes in defence," Garcia said.

"We had so many scoring opportunities and usually win in these circumstances, but a point against Milan at San Siro is not a negative thing," he said.

His Milan counterpart Massimiliano Allegri was satisfied with the result.

"It was an entertaining game for the spectators, a little less for us. We knew Roma were strong in space, but there were incidents we should' ve avoided," said Allegri.

"In the end it' s a good result, as we used up so much physical and psychological energy on Wednesday for the Champions League and could' ve paid for that," he added.
