Berlin defeat Bremen 3-2 in German Bundesliga

Berlin, Dec 14 (IANS): Ronny's second half goal wrapped up Hertha Berlin's 3-2 win to inflict Werder Bremen their fifth loss in row, at the opener of the 16th round in German Bundesliga football.

Bremen's Nils Petersen opened the scoring in a thrilling encounter Friday night but the visitors were unable to hold the pace as Berlin turned the tides, courtesy Adrian Ramos' brace and Ronny's winner, reports Xinhua.

Berlin failed to make use of their ball possession in the opening period whereas Bremen shocked the hosts with the opener at the 15th minute. Petersen utilised Aaron Hunt's build up play to hammer home from 17 meters into the top left corner.

The "Alte Dame" needed only two minutes to respond to Bremen's lead. Theodor Gebre Selassie was penalized for a foul play to Per Cilijan Skjelbred inside the box allowing Adrian Ramos to restore parity from the spot.

Once "Hertha" established their rhythm they grabbed the lead for the first time as Ramos wrapped up his brace, beating Raphael Wolf into the far post corner at the 26th minute.

After the break Berlin were highly motivated and renewed their lead thanks to Ronny, who poked home a rebound from close range, three minutes into the second half.

Both sides were in search of another goal but remained short on accuracy in front of the opponents danger zone.
