India to clash with Pakistan in Junior Hockey World Cup

New Delhi, Dec 13 (IANS): Even if it is for the 9-10th position playoff, the Hockey Junior World Cup will come to a standstill as hosts India take on arch-rivals Pakistan at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here Saturday.

Both teams won their respective 9-12 position playoff matches Thursday after finishing third in their respective pools and are ready to give hockey fans a treat come Saturday.

"The India vs Pakistan game is always a big match, it is a traditional rivalry. There won't be any pressure in terms of the classification match we are playing in. We have to be sure of every shot we play. It's disappointing that we could not make it to the quarterfinals but we have to now focus in our next game," said India coach Gregg Clark Friday.

The South African added that the Asian rivalry is important in terms of world hockey.

"Tomorrow will be a big stage on which the team has to deliver and we are totally focussed. It is always an important match in terms of world hockey. It is important to win."

Pakistan coach Anjum Saeed said that the pressure will not be on them but on India, who are playing at home.

"The team is under no pressure and the boys are confident for tomorrow's game. The pressure will be on the Indian team as it is their home ground and crowd expectations will be huge. While the game is big, let the best team win," Saeed said.
