Mid-Day

Mumbai, Apr 26: Vishwas Munde (28), who was to get married on May 4, was found dead in a water tank at his village in Agashengaon near Diva on Sunday.

Vishwas’s family has blamed his business partners Sanjay Mhatre (30), Devdas Mhatre (24) and Vishwas Mhatre (28) for the murder and alleged that after killing Munde, they stole Rs 15,000 cash along with gold ornaments and a mobile phone. Vishwas and the trio were partners in a company that constructed buildings in Agashengaon.

Got a call

On Saturday, Vishwas had gone to attend a pre-wedding ceremony of his cousin in Dombivli when he allegedly received a phone call from his partners, who told him to meet them.

Vishwas’s elder brother Bhim (38) said, “He was enjoying himself at the ceremony when he got a call on his cell phone around 9.30 pm. He left immediately. After he did not return for a while, we started looking for him. On Sunday, we came to know that his body had been found in a tank.”

The victim’s cousin Deepak Munde alleges, “Vishwas was accused in the murder of Bablu Munde. Bablu’s brother Gadlya had most probably plotted the murder with his three partners.”

The three partners have been arrested and remanded in police custody till tomorrow. However, Gadlya is still absconding.

Denial

A police officer from Mumbra police station said, “We have arrested the three partners after Vishwas’s family accused them of the murder. The three have, however, denied any role in the killing.”
