ICC to use Snickmeter for Windies-New Zealand Tests

Dubai, Dec 10 (IANS/CMC): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Real-Time Snickometer (RTS) will be part of the Decision Review System (DRS) in the remaining two Tests between New Zealand and the West Indies to be played in Wellington and Hamilton.

The RTS has been included as part of the DRS following an initial approach from the teams and their subsequent agreement after briefings in Wellington Monday, reports CMC.

It will be part of the decision-making technology that will be used by Sky Television's coverage of the series, and also includes Virtual Eye (ball tracking technology) and Hot Spot.

The RTS is not yet approved but the ICC commenced the process of evaluating it for inclusion following ICC Chief Executives' Committee's meeting in September during which broad support was shown for the new technology.

The performance of the RTS during the New Zealand - West Indies series, and the current Ashes series, will form part of that evaluation.
