  • Demands Rs 50,000 Compensation

Mangalore, Apr 19: The Kudroli abattoir issue has taken a new twist with contractor Rajesh Shetty writing to MCC that he would not like to continue the contract further.

In a letter written to Mangalore City Corporation, contractor Rajesh Shetty has stated that ever since he took over the slaughter house from the previous contractor on April 1, he has incurred heavy losses owing to the non-functioning of the abattoir.  "I request MCC to return me my money along with a compensation of Rs 50,000 for the losses incurred," he stated.

Rajesh Shetty had taken over the abattoir on April 1 on an annual contract of Rs 8 lac. However, following a threat for life he had made few visits to the abattoir. Thereafter, the abattoir was shut down for the next three days due to external factors, including the non-availability of a Vet. The slaughter faced closure for an indefinite period following orders from the Karnataka Pollution Control Board (KPCB).

On Eid - Miladunnabi slaughter house resumed operations and continued thereafter.

Rajesh who denied visiting slaughter house ever since he took charge has written to MCC to return his money.  Rajesh had paid Rs 2 lac to MCC and provided post-dated cheques worth Rs 6 lac.
