Zol to lead India in U-19 Asia Cup


New Delhi, Nov 28 (IANS): Vijay Zol has been named the captain of the 15-member India team for the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) U-19 Asia Cup that will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Dec 28 to Jan 4.

The team was picked up after the junior selection committee met here Thursday.

Kerala's talented wicketkeeper Sanju Vishwanadh, who made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut with Rajasthan Royals, has been appointed the vice-captain.

India have been clubbed in Group A with arch-rivals Pakistan, Nepal and hosts UAE. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Malaysia make up Group B.

India start their campaign against the UAE at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Dec 28, followed by matches against Nepal (Dec 29) and Pakistan (Dec 31), which will be held at the Dubai International Stadium. The final is slated for Jan 4 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
