Bangalore, April 14: Hours after the fan frenzy and violence in Bangalore following Kannada legend Rajkumar’s death - that resulted in the death of six people - hospitals in the city got flooded with injured patients.

Frenzied fans of the thespian had on Thursday gone on a rampage, pelting stones and targeting vehicles in and around Kanteerava Stadium where his body had been kept.

After the funeral proceedings were over, the casualty ward at the K C general hospital saw a continuous stream of patients coming in, most of them policemen.

The policemen seemed to be at the reciecing end of Thursday's violence. Nearly 50 policemen came in with wounds they incurred from the mob fury.

As the number of injured swelled by the hour, the anger and the frustration among the Bangaloreans were palpable.

They were very upset with the way the law and order failed and anarchy ruled the streets.

In Thursday's volience, at least two state-owned buses were set on fire near the stadium and many private vehicles damaged by an unruly crowd.

"The police should have anticipated all this. Why did they shift the body to Kanteerava stadium. They should have known," Industrialist Rajendra Bhansali, asked.

After the storm, there’s an eerie silence on Bangalore’s streets. All that's left are burning embers and shattered glass on the roads.

Police platoons are patrolling the city, that seems to be limping back to normalcy, hoping that the Thursday morning's scene would not be repeated.

Traffic has begun to ply and Friday is a new day for Bangaloreans who would like to remember this day for 'Annavru,' not for the riots that followed.
