Kenya football coach in line for long term deal

Nairobi, Nov 23 (IANS): With less than five days to go before Kenya hosts the regional football showpiece, the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup, the country's federation confirmed head coach Adel Amrouche is set for a long term contract.

The Belgian who took charge in February was initially contracted for a year by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) but speaking during a sponsor's brief for the regional tournament Friday, Sam Nyamweya, the body's chief, said Amrouche would be offered an unspecified long deal, reports Xinhua.

"I have a lot of faith in the coach and as a federation we are giving him all the support he needs," Nyamweya stated.

Having led Kenya to third place in the 2014 World Cup qualifying group, Amrouche then led Kenya to the South African regional Cosafa Cup as guests where Harambee Stars crashed out of the group stages owing largely to fatigue.
