KyaZoonga.com notches nearly 20 mn hits for Tendulkar match

Mumbai, Nov 11 (IANS): KyaZoonga.com, Mumbai Cricket Association's official ticketing partner claimed to have notched a stupendous 19.70 million hits within an hour of the opening of ticket sales for Sachin Tendulkar's 200th and final Test match, an official said here Monday.

"The company witnessed an unprecedented amount of traffic on its website given the excitement around Sachin Tendulkar's farewell match," a KyaZoonga.com spokesperson said this evening.

Even as millions of fans were disappointed with the server crashing within minutes of the opening due to heavy traffic, KyaZoonga said that demand for tickets for the match "is massive" but the system is continuously transacting.

"Some people experienced delays in accessing the ticketing site following a surge in traffic around 11 a.m. with a record 19.70 million hits within the first hour," the spokesperson said.

The company said that if the traffic volumes continued at these high levels, "it could perhaps surpass the momentum witnessed even during past Olympic Games".

It assured that even as high traffic levels continue to be sustained, the transactions are being processed during this period and apologised for the delays and congratulated the successful ones who managed to book tickets.

However, millions of fans in Mumbai and elsewhere were disappointed as the KyaZoonga.com servers crashed minutes after it started sales here Monday morning.

The fans from Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and other places like Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Nashik and other parts of the state could not log in as the (KyaZoonga.com) website remained busy and unavailable for nearly an hour.

Bitter fans complained to mediapersons that the cricketing authorities, sponsors, cricket clubs and other influential persons managed to grab a lion's share of the total estimated 35,000 seats in the Wankhede Stadium where Tendulkar will play his historic final match Nov 14-18.

Even Mumbai's famous 'Dabbawalas' have complained that they were not allotted 100 tickets to enable them to cheer Tendulkar on his historic farewell match.

"Nevertheless, we plan to greet him with drums, other musical instruments and congratulatory banners somewhere near the venue," said spokesperson Subhash Talekar.
