Nevill to lead Cricket Australia Invitational XI

Melbourne, Nov 11 (IANS): New South Wales' Peter Nevill will lead Cricket Australia Invitational XI against England XI at the Sydney Cricket Ground Nov 13-16.

This will be the last practice match ahead of the Ashes series which starts Nov 21 at Brisbane.

South Australia's Callum Ferguson, who played for Australia A against England XI in Hobart, has been included in the Invitational XI squad. Ferguson had limited time at the crease in the rain-affected match.

"In selecting the final XI, we have tried to be flexible given the needs of individual players following the latest round of first class matches across the country," Cricket Australia (CA) executive general manager of team performance Pat Howard said Monday.

"We have also taken the view that due to the rain-affected match in Hobart, Callum Ferguson didn't get the depth of international exposure we hoped to give him through his Australia A selection. We felt it made sense to select him in the next tour match against England."

The Cricket Australia Invitational XI squad: Ed Cowan, Aaron Finch, Callum Ferguson, Adam Voges, Ben Rohrer, Ryan Carters, Peter Nevill (Captain), Stephen O'Keefe, Josh Lalor, Chris Tremain, Nic Bills.

Coach: Geoff Lawson
