Asian Champions Trophy: India beat Malaysia 4-3


Kakamigahara (Japan), Nov 8 (IANS): A young Indian side overcame Malaysia 4-3 in their last league match of the 3rd Men's Asian Champions Trophy here Friday.

India scored through Ramandeep Singh (4th minute), Malak Singh (41st and 51st minute), Mandeep Singh (54th minute) while Azreen Rizal Bin Nasir (10th minute), Faizal Saari (12th and 67th minute) scored for Malaysia.

India will now play Oman for the fifth/sixth position match here Sunday.

India scored an early goal in the 4th minute through Ramandeep. Malaysia levelled the score in the 10th minute with a field goal scored by Nasir. Two minutes later, Malaysia took 2-1 lead with a goal scored by Saari. Half-time score was 2-1 in favour of Malaysia.

India made a strong comeback in the second half, scoring an easy goal through Malak in the 41st minute. In the 51st minute Malak scored another goal to put India 3-2 ahead.

Three minutes later, Mandeep scored, beating Malaysian defenders and goalkeeper Kumar Subramaniam.

Malaysia reduced the margin in the 67th minute with a field goal scored by Saari.
