India eves beaten by Japan


Kakamigahara (Japan), Nov 7 (IANS): The Indian women's hockey team went down 1-2 to Japan in their third match at the 3rd Women’s Asian Champions Trophy here Thursday. Both the teams will again play in Saturday's final.

India took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute when Chanchan Devi scored off a penalty corner.

Japan got three penalty corners in the first half but Indian defence and the goalkeeper denied any scoring chance to their opponents.

Japan found an equaliser in the 59th minute with a field goal scored by Arai Mazuki. In the 68th minute, Otsuka Shiho scored the winning goal for Japan by converting a penalty corner.
