Sao Paulo cling to Libertadores hope

Porto Alegre (Brazil), Oct 28 (IANS): Sao Paulo moved to within nine points of the Campeonato Brasileiro top four with a 3-2 victory over Internacional.

Aloisi struck a hat-trick for the visitors while Leandro Damiao and Jorge Henrique netted for Internacional in a high-tempo clash at the Estadio Centenario Sunday, reports Xinhua.

Having spent much of the first half of the season in the relegation zone, Sao Paulo have now climbed to ninth with four wins from their past five outings.

With seven matches remaining they still have an outside chance to claim a berth in next year's Copa Libertadores, South America's elite club competition.

In other games Sunday, Bahia drew 1-1 with Atletico Paranaense, Ponte Preta defeated Vasco da Gama 2-1, Corinthians drew 1-1 with Santos, Portuguesa and Flamengo played out a goalless draw, Coritiba thumped Gremio 4-0, Goias beat Nautico 2-0 while reigning champions Fluminense lost 2-3 at home to Vitoria.
