West Indies warm up game shifted to Kolkata

Kolkata, Oct 26 (IANS): West Indies will play their warm-up match during the coming India tour in Kolkata instead of rain-lashed Cuttack Oct 31-Nov 2, the BCCI decided Saturday.

The three-day match between the Caribbeans and Uttar Pradesh would be staged at the Jadavpur University Ground in the satellite township of Salt Lake, said a senior administrative official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The decision was taken at the BCCI working committee meeting held during the day in Chennai.

Cuttack, as also entire Odisha state, has been receiving heavy torrential rain over the past few days, which forced the fifth One-Day International (ODI) of the seven-match series between India and Australia to be called off at the Barabati Stadium without a ball being bowled earlier in the day.

West Indies are scheduled to play the first cricket Test match against India at the Eden Gardens here Nov 6-10. They would play the second Test at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium Nov 14-18.

The Caribbeans would wrap up the tour with three one dayers at Kochi (Nov 21), Vishakhapatnam (Nov 24) and Baroda/Kanpur (Nov 27).
