Mary Kom to wave chequered flag at Indian GP


Greater Noida, Oct 26 (IANS): Olympic medallist boxer Mary Kom will wave the chequered flag at the Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix here Sunday.

“I can confirm now that Mary Kom will do the honours. Other Olympians are also coming to watch the race," Jaypee Sports International CEO Sameer Gaur told IANS at the Buddh International Circuit here Saturday.

Ace archer Deepika Kumari, wrestler Sushil Kumar and India hockey captain Sardar Singh are amongst the sportspersons expected to turn up.

Shooter Gagan Narang did the honours in 2012 and cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar in the inaugural edition in 2011.
