Football fan jailed for punching police horse


London, Oct 25 (IANS): A football fan in Britain who turned rowdy after a match and punched a police horse has been sentenced to 12 months in prison.

The 45-year-old, who pleaded guilty to the charge of violent disorder, was sentenced to 12 months in prison and handed a six year footballing ban at Newcastle Crown Court Friday, the Daily Express reported.

Newcastle United supporter Barry Rogerson attacked the animal after a football match at St James' Park between Newcastle and Sunderland April 14.
