Toro Rosso driver Vergne in awe of Taj Mahal

Greater Noida, Oct 25 (IANS): Toro Rosso driver Jean Eric Vergne is in awe of the Taj Mahal ever since he visited the Mughal architectural masterpiece in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.

The first thing the French driver did after arriving in India for the Formula 1 race was to make a quick trip to the white marble mausoleum built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz.

"It was one of the best things I ever saw. It was an awesome experience. I am glad I went there," Vergne told IANS in the paddock of the Buddh International Circuit here.

He also ended up buying a 3.5 metre carpet from the Taj city. "The embroidery on the carpet was hard to ignore."

What does he think about India?

"It is a crazy place. A lot different to what we are used to. But it is great to be here. The food is also good but I am not always up for spicy food," Vergne said.
