Indian GP: Mary Kom or Sushil Kumar for chequered flag

Greater Noida, Oct 24 (IANS): Olympic medallists wrestler Sushil Kumar or pugilist M.C. Mary Kom are likely to wave the chequered flag at the Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix Sunday.

India hockey captain Sardar Singh can also join, provided he returns in time from the Netherlands, where he is playing at the club level. Ace archer Deepika Kumar too has been invited for the race at the Jaypee Group-owned Buddh International Circuit.

"We have invited Olympians Deepika Kumari (archery), Mary Kom (boxer), Sushil Kumar (wrestling) and Sardar Singh (hockey). They will be doing a lot of activities here. One of them will wave the flag. The final decision will be taken at the last moment," a top Jaypee Group told IANS.

Shooter Gagan Narang did the honours in 2012 and cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar in the inaugural edition in 2011.
