Volunteers train for Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Abu Dhabi, Oct 22 (IANS/WAM): Volunteers at Takatof, an initiative by the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development, have kicked off a training programme to handle different possible scenarios for the upcoming Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

These volunteers were taken through their roles by experienced group leaders, advised on how to tackle different situations and were shown their positions in the Grandstand for the Nov 1-3 race.

Like previous years, the volunteers will play a vital part in the smooth running of the Grand Prix, including meeting and greeting spectators and ensuring the safety of the crowd, Maytha Al Habsi, chief programme officer of the Emirates Foundation, said.

The volunteers "include people of all ages who have come from far and wide across the UAE to play their part," he added.
