Former Brazil captain Lucio poised for Sao Paulo release

Rio de Janeiro, Oct 15 (IANS): Former Brazil captain Lucio is set to be released by Brazilian football club Sao Paulo this week.

The 35-year-old has not played for the club since July, following a row with former coach Paulo Autuori, reports Xinhua.

"There have been talks but we still haven't made a decision and we will meet internally in the coming days to discuss it," said Sao Paulo's vice-president of football Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes.

Lucio is contracted to the Brazilian top-flight outfit until the end of 2014 after signing from Juventus last December.

He has been capped 106 times for Brazil and captained the team to victory at the 2009 Confederations Cup.
