Santos target Chile forward Vargas

Rio de Janeiro, Oct 14 (IANS): Brazilian club Santos has revealed its interest in signing Chile international forward Eduardo Vargas.

The club's football manager Zinho said Sunday that former Benfica and Corinthians playmaker Bruno Cesar has also been targeted as Santos look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season in January, reports Xinhua.

"They are players that I like, excellent, proven footballers who are capable of wearing the Santos shirt. We are looking for players like that," Zinho told Radio Capital Sunday.

"We can't just be content with Plan A, we need Plan B and C. We are interested but there have been no talks with them."

Vargas, who is currently contracted to Italian Serie A outfit Napoli, will end a year-long loan with Brazil's Gremio in December.

Cesar, who has been capped twice by Brazil's national team, is currently at Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli.
