Bike rally calls for women's safety in Delhi and around


Gurgaon, Oct 6 (IANS): A Delhi-based bikers' club Sunday organised a rally from Delhi to Gurgaon, calling for empowerment and safety of women and demanding tough police action against law-breakers.

Deepa Malik who participated in the 2009 'Raid De Himalaya' and won the 'True Grit' award, besides the desert rally storm and 'Biker of the Year', was part of the rally and said women must take to the adventure of riding bikes.

"Women in the National Capital Region are not safe. There is lot to be done for their safety," said a woman participant. "Police should provide chilly powder and safety guards so they feel safe," she said.

Rally organiser, 'Bikers for Good', said the convoy started from Delhi's South Extension and ended near the "Kingdom of Dreams" in Sector 29, Noida.
