Oracle beat Infy Mysore at Corporate Football Tourney

Bangalore, Sep 30: Exciting football action was the order of the day as 24 corporate teams battled their way in the 5 a side corporate football tournament at the H A L ground on September 29. 

All the teams after an initial action in the league stage were drawn to play for the platinum trophy, gold trophy and the silver trophy depending on their position in the league in their group.

At the end it was Oracle who beat Infosys Mysore team by a lone goal in the final to lift the attractive Platinum Trophy and prize money of Rs.15000.  The footballers from Mysore took home the runners up trophy and Rs.10000 as prize money. 

There were 24 teams playing in 8 groups of 3 teams each in the initial league phase . In the semi final of the Platinum Trophy Oracle beat Wipro while Oracle scraped past TCS Bangalore in the second semi final.  Clivert of Oracle was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament.  Malla of TCS, Adarsh of Infosys Mysore and Devesh of Cognizant too home the other individual awards as the best defender, forward and goalkeeper of the tournament respectively.

In the Gold Trophy final Cognizant beat Marriott Whitefield and Cadence beat Philips to take the Silver Trophy in the final.  All participating players were presented with special football medals apart from free lunch for all the teams.

The football event was organized by veteran sports specialist Denzil Fernandes who ensured that the day’s competition was perfect from the word go till the end.  All the teams were delighted with the organization and arrangements and promised to return when the next tournament takes place.

The tournament was sponsored by DNI Hometheatre, SPPE (Dubai) and Sterling Holidays. Medical support was provided by Fortis Hospitals.  

At the end of the finals, Alex Lewis (MD) of DNI Hometheatre gave away the trophies.  Francis Fernandes of SPPE Dubai who was expected at the finals could not travel  due to sudden change of plans.  Other guests included William Fernandes, Michael Pinto, Vinay Kumar and Godwin Castelino.
