Bert van Marwijk takes charge at Hamburg

Berlin, Sep 24 (IANS): Former Netherlands national football coach Bert van Marwijk has taken over as manager at struggling Hamburg on a two-year deal.

German Bundesliga team Hamburg signed former Dutch national team and Borussia Dortmund head coach Bert van Marwijk Monday, following the dismissal of Thorsten Fink six days ago, reports Xinhua.

"We are pleased that we were able to engage with Bert van Marwijk a coach for Hamburg, who has an extensive experience and demonstrated his expertise in numerous cases," Hamburg director of sport Oliver Kreutzer said.

The 61-year-old Dutchman faces a challenging task, as the 'Rothosen' are in a relegation battle with just one win, one draw and four losses in six matches.
