Gen V.K. Singh to seek report through RTI

New Delhi, Sep 22 (IANS): Former chief of army staff Gen. (retd.) V.K. Singh will file a Right to Information petition for a copy of the report which claims that funds were misused during his tenure to destabilise the Jammu and Kashmir government, his counsel said.

"We have come to this conclusion that the only way to establish the truth regarding this report and regarding the activities which are being questioned now is to see the copy of the report. So we are planning to move an RTI application tomorrow (Monday) itself asking for a copy of that report submitted by Lt Gen Bhatia and also inspection of the records," V.K. Singh's counsel Vishwajeet Singh said Sunday.

"If they deny our application, we will see what else we can do," he told T.V. channel Times Now.

Media reports have cited a report submitted after an army inquiry, alleging that during Gen Singh's tenure as chief, funds were misused to destabilise the Jammu and Kashmir government.

According to reports in the media, the army inquiry report was prepared by the present Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Vinod Bhatia.
