BJP going all out to make Modi's Delhi rally a success

New Delhi, Sep 21 (IANS): The BJP's Delhi unit is working round-the-clock to ensure that the Sep 29 rally by their prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is a success, a party leader said.

Meetings are being held daily at Japanese Park in north Delhi's Rohini - the venue of the rally.

"We are meeting every day, all the leaders involved in the preparations as well as the volunteers," Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijender Gupta, who is in-charge of the rally preparations, told IANS.

According to Gupta, around 2,000 volunteers are at the site looking after the arrangements which include setting up huge LED screens, CCTV cameras, banners, preparation of a parking lot etc.

"Around 25 LED screens will be put up all over the park so that people sitting far away from the stage can see him (Modi)," said Gupta adding that another 100 screens will be installed in market places and at various places in the city for Delhi residents who won't be going to Rohini.

A temporary parking spot which can accommodate 5,000 cars and buses is also being prepared near the park.

As far as the security arrangements are concerned, dozens of CCTV cameras and hundreds of private security guards will keep an eye on the crowd.

Furthermore, there is a possibility that Modi may arrive at the venue in a chopper due to security reasons, said Gupta.

"We are expecting at least four lakh people to visit the park which has the capacity to accommodate four to five lakh people," he said.

The rally will focus on corruption, price rise and law and order. The BJP will also announce the names of its candidates for the Delhi assembly elections - expected around November - on the occasion.
