Rohit to lead Delhi in junior national football


New Delhi, Sep 17 (IANS): Midfielder Rohit Kumar of CRPF School will lead U-17 Delhi state football team in the 49th Junior National Football Championship for the Dr.B.C. Roy Trophy to be held Sep 19-29 at Ranchi.

Midfielder Akash Prasad was named the vice-captain of the team.

Delhi have been placed with hosts Jharkhand, Assam and Tamil Nadu with their first match against Assam Sep 20, followed by Jharkhand (Sep 22) and Tamil Nadu Sep 24.

The top team will qualify for the quarter-finals. The semi-finals will be held Sep 26-27. The final is slated for Sep 29.

Goalkeepers: Varun Bisht, Raju Kumar, Zameer
Defenders: Gaurav Bora, Rishabh Bhandari, Asish Rai, Mukul Mawari, Mannan Balooni
Midfielders: Rohit Kumar (Captain), Basant, Akash Prasad (vice-captain), Vivek Chhetri, Vijay Malhotra, Shashwat Dev, Hrithik Arora
