Australia win ODI series 2-1 against England


Southampton, Sep 17 (IANS): Australia won the One-Day International (ODI) series against England 2-1 after completing a 49-run victory over the hosts here at the Rose Bowl.

A 163-run partnership between man-of-the-match Shane Watson (143) and captain Michael Clarke (75) set up Australia’s total of 298 all out in 49.1 overs Friday.

In response, England were bowled out for 249 in 48 overs with James Faulkner taking three wickets and Mitchell Johnson two.

The first and the third games of the five-match series were washed out.
