Top Korean prosecutor offers to quit over personal scandal

Seoul, Sep 13 (IANS): South Korea's top prosecutor Friday offered to resign following allegations that he had a child through an extramarital affair.

Local daily Chosun Ilbo reported Sep 6 that Prosecutor General Chae Dong-wook fathered a son from an extramarital affair in 1999, which Chae strongly denied, according to Xinhua.

Denying the news report, he offered to get the DNA test done to claim his innocence.

The authorities have ordered an investigation into the matter.

Chae took office in April for a two-year term.
