Hockey India inducts SPSB as associate member

New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS): Hockey India (HI) now has 18 associate members after the inclusion of Steel Plant Sports Board (SPSB).

Overall, HI has 27 affiliated members and two state Olympic association members.

With the latest inclusion, SPSB can take part in all the National Championships. SPSB has 11 steel plants in the country.

HI secretary general Narinder Batra welcomed SPSB into the fold.

“The Steel Hockey Academy has produced some international hockey players like Birendra Lakra, Jayram Lakra and Sushil Xalxo. SAIL (Steel Authority of India) has contributed immensely in the development and promotion of Indian Hockey. With SPSB becoming an associate member, it may open a window for job opportunities for our future players,” said Batra.
