Nigeria should beat Malawi: Former goalkeeper

Lagos (Nigeria), Sep 4 (IANS): Nigeria will beat Malawi in Saturday's crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier in Calabar, 1996 Atlanta Olympic gold medallist, Joseph Dosu, said Wednesday.

Dosu, former Super Eagles' goalkeeper, said in spite of the antics being played by Malawi, he was certain the Eagles would record an outright win, reports Xinhua.

Nigeria top Group F with nine points from five matches, while Malawi is second with seven points, also from five matches.

He urged the Eagles not to be complacent in the match, adding that they should not underrate Malawi, like they did with the Kenyans in Calabar.

The ex-international said the Eagles must bring their tactical and technical dominance to bear, noting that the team made some mistakes in its last home World Cup qualifier against Kenya.

The first-leg match between both sides in Blantyre June 9, 2012 ended in a 1-1 draw.
