Udupi, Feb 15: A collision between an auto rickshaw and a tanker laden with naphtha at K G Road on Monday February 13 evening left Grace Pinto (60) of Kallianpur seriously injured.

The tanker carrying naphtha was on its way to Mangalore from Gujarat when it rammed into rickshaw from behind on the steep curve at K G Road near Santhekatte here.  While the tanker turned turtle on the road, the auto rickshaw was totally damaged.

Grace Pinto was travelling in the rickshaw along with a nurse of the local hospital.  While Grace Pinto who sustained serious injuries was admitted to KMC Hospital Manipal, the rickshaw driver and the nurse have escaped with minor injuries.

The driver and cleaner of the tanker have fled the place.  Since the tanker turned turtle on the middle of the road, the naphtha was spilt all along the road.

The Brahmavar police have registered a case in this regard.
