Mangalore, Feb 14: Dakshina Kannada ZP Higher Primary school at Koikude-Panja near Haleyangadi here is all set to celebrate its golden jubilee celebrations on Wednesday February 15 evening.  The celebrations will begin at 6 pm on Wednesday at the school.

The Panja School was established under the leadership of Panjaguttu Shambhu Malli 50 years ago.  Dr K K Shetty was the president of the district board during those days.  Ever since its inception, the school has been a blessing for thousands of children of the area.  Today the alumnus of the school are found spread all over the world, said Prakash Shetty Nalyaguttu, the alumni of the school.

He was speaking at the press conference held here on Monday February 13.  He further added that the localites, the elected representatives and other people have been very generous towards the school. "Though it is a government school, all the facilities have been provided to the students, thanks to the donors and local people," he added.

However, he did speak about the sharp decrease in the number of the students owing to the influence and presence of English medium schools.  Moreover, the lack of some basic amenities in the village too has played a role in this development.  Prakash Shetty called on the donors and supporters to stand by the school and held the school to set up a computer lab and other necessary things in the school.

Shri Vidyavallabhateertha Swamiji of Shri Kaniyoor math invoke blessings on the occasion while the programme will be presided over by MLA K Abhaychandra Jain.  Udupi MP Manorama Madhwaraj too will grace the occasion.

Bykampady Rotary Club president Sudhakar Poonja, school headmistress Jayanti etc were present at the press conference.
