Eight killed in South Africa bus crash


Johanesburg, Sep 2 (IANS): Eight people were killed and 62 injured in a bus crash Sunday night in South Africa, a media report said Monday.

The bus overturned, slid down the road and smashed into steel barriers while travelling on a highway intersection in Melmoth town in KwaZulu-Natal province, Xinhua cited the SAPA news agency as saying.

Two women and six men died at the scene. The steel barriers had pierced through the front of the bus, an official said.

The bus was carrying people from a dance ceremony in Nongoma town, about 100 km from Melmoth.
