Mangalore, Feb 13: The third anniversary celebration of the Vokkaliga Gowda Students' Association was held in the city on Sunday February 12.

Former Kuvempu University vice-chancellor Chidananada Gowda, who inaugurated the programme said that the new generation should prepare themselves to grab the opportunities in the knowledge sector.

The world has recognised the intellectual potentials of Indians and the demand for Indian professionals in the field of engineering, medicine, nursing, teaching and others is increasing.

Many European countries that face shortage of trained professionals mainly because of either stagnation or decrease in their population are looking towards India for skilled people.

An estimate states that by the year 2020 about 20 million people will migrate to the foreign countries for employment. With this scenario students should be serious in their efforts to grab the opportunities in future and have definite goals in life.

Mangalore MP DV Sadananda Gowda who was the chief guest called upon the Vokkaliga students to get inspired from the achievements of their ancestors and make contributions for the benefit of the whole society and the country.
