Mangalore, Feb 11: The Inspector General of Police Western Range S Suresh Babu has suspended Kadri police inspector Basheer Ahmed, who aimed his service revolver at a police constable and assaulted him on Friday February 4.

The IGP, acting on a detailed report on the incident submitted by Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police B Dayananda suspended Ahmed. On the night of February 4, the inspector pointing his service revolver at head constable Karunakar had assaulted him in Kadri police station.

On the instructions of senior police officers, the head constable filed a complaint against the inspector at Urva police station. The service revolver and the police jeep of Basheer were taken away from him by the SP and a detailed report on the incident was submitted to the IGP.
