Bookie arrested in IPL spot fixing case


New Delhi, Aug 5 (IANS): Delhi Police have arrested one more bookie who was involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot fixing scandal, an official said Monday.

Chandresh Jain alias Jupiter, was arrested from Jaipur and presented in district court Sunday.

"The court has sent Jain for five days' police custody," S.N. Srivastava, special commissioner of police (Special Cell) told IANS.

However, the official did not give the exact date when Jain was arrested.

"It is the 30th arrest in the spot fixing case by Delhi Police till now," the officer said.

Of the 29 people arrested so far, 21 are on bail, while eight are in judicial custody.

Three Rajasthan Royals players - S. Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila - were arrested by Delhi Police from Mumbai, May 16. While Sreesanth and Chavan are out on bail, Chandila is still languishing in Tihar jail.
