Saprissa win Costa Rica football tourney


San Jose (Costa Rica), Aug 5 (IANS): Deportivo Saprissa defeated Carmelita in penalties to win the Costa Rica's First Division 2013 Cup.

The match was played in "Estadio Nacional" stadium Sunday, in western San Jose. Saprissa and Carmelita failed to score in regular time as well as in extra time, and the match went into the penalty shootout to decide the championship, reports Xinhua.

In the penalty shootout, goalkeeper Grant was Saprissa's hero, stopping two shots from Carmelita, while his teammates scored all the goals to win the first trophy of the Costa Rican football season.
