Mangalore, Jan 30: Addressing Rotarians during his official visit to the Rotary Club of Mangalore Central recently, RI Dist 3180 district governor Rtn PHF Laksminarayana said that the Rotary being the recognized voluntary service organization has fortified its movement by implementing all major projects of the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, for the progress of the economically backward sections of the society, by providing worldwide basic amenities like drinking water, sanitation, education and health care.

On the occasion, Rtn PHF Dr Devdas Rai, was honoured for his commendable service in the Rotary movement.

Also felicitated on the occasion was Nonaiah Gowda, representative of the department of posts.

K Krishna Shetty was unanimously elected as Rotary District Governor of Rotary International Dist 3180 for 2008-09.

According to a press release, Shetty is a member of Rotary Club Mangalore North.  The Rotary International Dist 3180 consists of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shimoga, Chikmagalur, Hassan, Madikeri, Mysore and Chamarajnagar.
