New building for Sri Amrutheshwara School

Mangalore: The newly constructed building of Sri Amrutheshwara English Medium High School, built under the aegis of Janu Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust at Vamanjoor will be inaugurated on Monday, said Trust president Seetharam Janu Shetty. He was speaking at a press meet held in the City on Saturday. Pejawar math seer Vishweshateertha Swami will inaugurate the building at 9 am, while Subrahmanya math head Vidyaprasannatirtha Swami will grace the occasion.
 
Alva's Education Foundation president Dr M Mohan Alva will preside. Krishna D Shetty of Gujarat Agro-chem Ltd, Mumbai, corporator Jayaprakash and Mangalore taluk block education officer Govind Madival will be present, he informed.

Accidental fall into river claims one life

Kadaba: A person was drowned when he accidentally fell into the river near Aithoor. He has been identified as Ragappa Gowda, son of Beliyappa Gowda and a resident of Karmayee in 102 Nekkilady village. The accident occurred when he accidentally fell into the Kumaradhara river while crossing, at Panjikal in Aithoor village on Friday. The Kadaba police have recorded a case on the basis of the complaint given by the family members of the deceased.

Lorry driver meets death on road

Vittal: A lorry driver died on spot when his vehicle had a head-on collision with another tanker on the National Highway 48 at Mannipalike on Friday midnight. Mohan Gowda (35), the lorry driver died while lorry cleaner Madhav (25), tanker cleaner Punmagam (25) of Hassan and cleaner Vijay Kumar (21) have been injured. However, Punmagam is said to be in a critical condition. The lorry was carrying fish powder to Chennai.

Tempo hits tree, cleaner killed

Udupi:
In an accident that took place on NH 17 at Saligrama on Saturday, a tempo full of grapes which was moving towards Mangalore from Bijapur hit a tree, as its driver lost control over the vehicle. Madival (16), cleaner of the tempo was killed on the spot.
