Karkala, Jan 28: Some years ago accidents had become a part of the famed Attur feast.  The feast used to end usually with one or two accidents.  But in the recent years, there have been very few instances of any road crash in which devotees returning from Attur feast have either died or injured.

But this was proved false this year with the death of Lakshmi alias Shanti on Friday January 27 morning after she had been injured seriously in an accident on Thursday January 26 evening while returning from Attur feast.

Lakshmi alias Shanti and her husband Justine Jairaj had been to Attur feast along with their four-year-old child Mahesh on Thursday.  They are the residents of Udupi.  After the feast they were returning home on their bike when the bike skidded of the road the fell into a trench.  As a result Lakshmi sustained serious injuries in her head while Justine and Mahesh escaped with minor injuries.

They all were admitted to KMC Hospital at Manipal on Thursday evening itself.  But Lakshmi succumbed to the injuries there on Friday morning.

The Karkala town police have registered a case in this regard.
