Mangalore, Jan 27: The district police, apparently on instructions from the higher-ups, conducted raids on video game centres in different parts of the city on Thursday, January 26.

City area

Ten video game centres were raided in downtown areas and eighteen persons have been arrested. The police have also seized Rs 24 machines, Rs 4,317 in cash and 182 coins employed in games. Mangala, Shiva and Sai near old bus stand, Trishul and Balaji in Linking Towers and few others near State Bank of India, Maidan, Kankanady and Bijai.

Ullal

Two recreation clubs in Tokkottu were raided and four persons arrested by Ullal ASIs Kamalaksha and Sitaram and team. Rs 600 and equipment have been seized.

Suratkal

A video game centre in MUDA complex at Suratkal and another near MRPL cargo gate were raided and 11 persons were arrested. Five machines and Rs 1,120 in cash were seized in the operation.
