China edges Australia in East Asian Cup


Seoul, July 28 (IANS): China edged Australia out 4-3 here Sunday in their last match of the four-nation East Asian Cup.

China collected five points in the men's football tournament, while Australia finished with one point, reports Xinhua.

China got off to a flying start with Yu Dabao scoring in the fourth minute.

Australia's Aaron Mooy tied the score on 30 minutes with a long shot.

Sun Ke gave China a 2-1 lead in the 56th minute, scoring on a rebound. Yang Xu's goal in the 86th minute and Wu Lei's in the 87th almost sealed the win for China.

But Adam Taggart's goal in the 89th minute and Mitchell Duke's in the injury time made it a close finish.
