KSCA press release

Mangalore, Jan 25: The Karnataka State Chess Association, in a press release, has informed that Karnataka players have achieved credible performance at the National Inter school chess Championship organized by School Games Federation of India at Visakapatnam, which concluded on Tuesday. The  prize distribution ceremony is being held on Wednesday.

The Karnataka Under-17 Girls Team and Under-14 Girls Team have bagged gold medals and Karnataka Under-17 Boys and Under-14 Boys have won bronze medals. Under -17 Girls and Under-14 girls scored 12 points each to bag the honour. Under-17 boys tallied 11.5 and Under-14 boys pooled 11 points to claim the bronze.

The following are the team members: Under-14 girls: Srishti Shetty (Shimga), Akshatha Bhat (Hassan), Vanessa D'Souza (Mangalore), Neha Patkar (Shimoga), Pavithra Jagathap(Bangalore)

Under 17 Girls: Manasa K (Mangalore), Shruthi K, Apoorva K G, Spoorthi Pai, Soumya Vaze (All Shimoga)

Under 14 Boys: Viani D'Cunha (Mangalore), Stany G A(Shimoga), Niranjan Navalgunda (Belgaum); Yashas D (Shimoga), Balakishan A (Mysore)

Under 17 Boys: Suraj M (Bangalore), Vishwas Saralaya(Udupi), Sunil Shetty(Shimoga), Srinidhi B S (Mandya), Sachin P S (Shimoga).

The KSCA has congratulated all the members of the Karnataka team for bringing laurels to the state with their achievement.
